Will plagued by deepfake porn campaign in Emmerdale – and the ordeal gets worse
Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) has fallen victim to a concerning deepfake porn attack in Emmerdale.
As viewers of the ITV soap know, Will is currently being blackmailed by an unknown person, who is aware that he slept with his ex Rose Jackson (Christine Tremarco) during current wife Kim Tate (Claire King) was away.
A number of concerning texts, as well as a delivery from a florists, have contained the message ‘I know what you did.’
Since then he’s been adamant to track down the blackmailer – suspecting a number of family members, including daughter Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and the village’s chief schemer Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly).
Will eventually came to the conclusion that it must be Rose herself behind it, though when he dialled the number, he was shocked to hear a UK dialling tone – despite her being in Ibiza.
Since then, he’s tried to woo Kim again by treating her to a fancy night at a casino, and in tonight’s episode he spoke with Jimmy King (Nick Miles) about planning to take her to the theatre.
He’s clearly spooked – at the beginning of the episode he was pottering around in the kitchen whilst Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) cleaned the house, and was taken aback when the virtual assistant speaker began to play a very familiar tune.
The song? Seal’s A Kiss from a Rose.
Let me say that again – A Kiss from a Rose. Surely that isn’t just a coincidence?
Lydia tried to assure him that those devices always manage to play songs themselves or chat away when we haven’t asked them anything, but he wasn’t convinced.
Can he find the blackmailer? (Picture: ITV)
Soap fans will be very familiar with the 90s hit, as it featured as the soundtrack to Cindy Beale’s return to EastEnders last year, whilst she was using the pseudonym Rose Knight.
Later in the episode, Will sat down with Jimmy when a twisted email landed in their inbox. The video, sent to a jaunty tune, was a deepfake porn video of Will and Rose sleeping together.
Will was keen to shut it down, but soon another video landed.
In this one, which was less sordid, we saw a digital version of him saying ‘I don’t need proof, I have proof’, repeatedly.
Who is behind the attack, and will Kim find out about the affair?
