Emmerdale legend’s guilt over sacking of beloved friend
Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) is in deep trouble after Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) spitefully revealed his involvement and subsequent blackmail in Amit’s disappearance in Emmerdale.
He’s already lost the respect of his beloved Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop), but there’s one more nugget of information that is about to surface and hammer the final nail into Pollard’s guilty coffin.
Brenda is still furious at the knowledge that Pollard was aware of Jai’s torture of Amit, which he then used as leverage to get all the free food and drink he wanted at the Hide. The unscrupulous Pollard has pulled some low stunts in his time (as Kerry can attest), but this is the lowest.
Well, not quite, as Brenda learns – there’s another low he’s sunk to. Pollard blackmailed Jai into sacking Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), which left her penniless while trying to raise her son as a single mother, all in the name of revenge for how she hurt Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant).
Aghast at her husband’s despicable behaviour, Brenda insists he make amends with innocent and financially struggling Vic.
Dutifully doing as told, Pollard approaches Vic and offers her a job in the shop, which she accepts without knowing the full extent of his abhorrent act.
Pollard is smug in thinking he’s got away with it, but Brenda makes it clear that she is not satisfied with his efforts – he needs to fully confess to Vic or else.
So poor Vic learns the true extent of Pollard’s maliciousness – that he forced Jai to lace her food with glass in order to give her the sack.
