Is Nate Robinson leaving Emmerdale? Everything we know as Jurell Carter ‘quits’ ITV soap
Nate Robinson has been put through the wringer, particularly after his wife's affair with Caleb Miligan. But with Jurell Carter tipped to leave Emmerdale, things could get worse...
Recent reports have alleged that Jurell Carter is on his way out of Emmerdale – but will he really leave?
The Leicester-born actor has been portraying hunky Nate Robinson since he first rocked up the eponymous ITV village in 2019, as a mysterious farmhand who embarked on a steamy affair with Moira Dingle (portrayed by Natalie J Robb).
Nate was then revealed to be none other than Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) estranged son with Cara Robinson and he was since been involved in a plethora of dramatic storylines.
In recent months, however, Nate was thrown into turmoil as his wife, Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) – with whom he has shared a rocky on-and-off romance – embarked on an affair with Caleb Miligan (Will Ash), which led to the breakdown of their marriage.
This Tuesday (July 9, 2024), Nate re-appeared on screens as he chatted to pal Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) around a few drinks. He later walked a drunken Billy back to Home Farm, urged by an unimpressed Kim Tate (Claire King) to not make a sound in an effort to avoid further tensions with Billy’s wife Dawn.
A multitude of fans were surprised by his appearance with one penning on X: “I wonder when Nate’s exit will be?” Another wondered: “Wow… Nate still exists!?” A third surprised viewer commented: “Oh look Nate haven’t seen him for a while.”
Is Nate Robinson leaving Emmerdale?
News of Jurell’s rumoured exit from the Yorkshire-based drama first emerged in late June, 2024, as The Sun cited a source who claimed the actor himself had decided to move on from soapland. “Nate has been at the centre of some huge storylines and his exit will be no different”, the insider told the publication at the time, explaining that Nate’s exit storyline will be one viewers would hate to miss.
“It will be dramatic and explosive and will go down in Emmerdale history. It won’t be one to miss. Jurell has loved being on the soap but he’s a young actor and it’s understandable he wants to spread his wings. He’s got a lot of talent – not to mention the looks – to become a big star and leaving the soap is the only way he can do that. Five years is a good run but he feels it’s time.” The Daily Mirror has reached out to ITV for comment.
What has Jurell Carter said about his Emmerdale exit?
Much like ITV bosses for the time being, Jurell has remained tight-lipped about his rumoured exit from the long-running drama, which was announced after Ethan Anderson’s tear-jerking death as well as Suni Sharma and Nicky Miligan’s own exit from the Dales.
Earlier this year, Jurell firmly stood his ground as he ranted about the judgement given to soap actors, during a chat on BBC Radio Leicester. “I was talking to one of the directors recently, and I was saying it was a shame a lot of the time in the industry sometimes there can be a snobbery in terms of soap actors, and we’re deemed as ‘not serious’.”
“But I feel once you kind of work on a show, you don’t really realise how gruesome and highly intense it is, because we’re working back-to-back days, sometimes 12-hour days, and we’re tackling some real hard-hitting storylines. And it’s props to the writers and the creative teams. But just as actors and also the crew, we just work solidly. I think sometimes we don’t really get our due credit.”
He added at the time: “A lot of the time everyday people are facing some of these subjects that I feel they can really relate to. So yeah, it’s tough stuff, but it’s amazing to be a part of, and I feel like sometimes soaps don’t get a credit as a whole.” While Nate’s exit awaits confirmation, fans have already jumped onto social media to share their wildest theories around his departure.
