Emmerdale’s double exit twist after brutal betrayal as Laurel ends marriage to Jai
Emmerdale's Nicky Milligan and Suni Sharma both made emotional exits from the village after the couple were betrayed by their respective families in Thursday's hour-long instalment.
Emmerdale viewers were left stunned as Nicky Mulligan and Suni Sharma made a surprise double exit from the Dales on Thursday (July 4). The duo’s departure came amidst separate family dramas, with secrets being revealed left, right and centre.
The drama began with Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) recovering from a heart attack after collapsing in shocking scenes.
While recuperating in hospital, Laurel urged Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) to reveal the truth about Amit’s recent departure from the village and Jai’s cunning plan to seize his shares of The HOP.
Fans will remember that Amit (Anil Goutam) tragically caused Rishi Sharma’s (Bhasker Patel) death by pushing him down the stairwell. Following this, Jai exiled Amit from the village, demanding he give up any inheritance claims over the HOP to Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana), thus transferring all equity interests solely to him.
However, the secret was finally exposed when Laurel spilled the beans to Suni. In another twist, Laurel also told Jai their marriage was over, unable to forgive him for his recent transgressions, reports the Express.
In the meantime, Nicky (Lewis Cope) faced his own heartbreak when he found out his parents Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby (Beth Cordingly) were spinning more lies to conceal their recent misdeeds.
When Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) started sniffing around the Miligan clan about Ethans hit and run, Caleb took one for the team to shield Ruby from trouble.
Caleb and his Ruby gave it a shot to loop Nicky into their fresh con, but their son had enough of the drama and bolted from the village with Suni in tow. Before leaving, Nicky squared off with Charles to tidy up the mess they’d left over recent weeks.
With a golden chance to spill the beans that Ruby was behind the wheel, not Caleb, Nicky zipped his lips tight and protected his parents. Making moves to leave, Nicky dropped a bombshell on his mum: “We need a fresh start, the both of us, away from here and away from my dad especially.”
Right on cue, Caleb rocked up in the middle of the heart-to-heart, but Nicky wasn’t having any of it. “We’ve talked enough, I’m sorry mum”, he dished out as he embraced Ruby goodbye. With no more loose ends, Nicky and Suni hopped into their motor and zoomed off, leaving it all behind.
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7:30pm on ITV.
