Make or break! Emmerdale confirms if Cain and Moira Dingle are splitting up

Moira (Natalie J Robb) and Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) relationship has been in turmoil following her son Matty Barton’s (Ash Palmisciano) arrest for accidentally stabbing Samson Dingle (Sam Hall).

However, in scenes set to air on the ITV soap next week, the couple make a decision about their future together.

Viewers have recently seen how Moira has attempted to get Samson to admit the truth about the stabbing, but he has refused to come clean due to the fact he is being manipulated by his transphobic friend Josh Cope (Osian Morgan).

A showdown between Moira and Cain followed, as she berated her husband for failing to intimidate Samson into confessing, as she remained deeply concerned for her son behind bars.

The confrontation between husband and wife kicked off again, as Moria chastised a drunk Cain about his abusive father Shadrach, leading to him nearly hitting her, before walking away.

Next week, the couple’s relationship is still on a knife’s edge, but a candid conversation leads to a reconciliation and the couple promise to work as a team moving forward.

However, Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, recently admitted Matty’s ordeal could have long-lasting effects on her marriage and their family.

She explained: ‘I don’t think this is something Moira would ever forget, especially from Samson Dingle’s point of view because they’re backing him and protecting him and defending him all the way through it and not even considering the options of Matty’s point of view of it.

So this won’t be something that she would forget. Maybe different with Cain if things start to change, maybe not, but she won’t forget this and it’s not something she would forgive.

‘She’s fiercely protective of her children. She’s already lost one child and now she faces the possibility of losing a second.

‘She’s absolutely desperate. She feels it’s unforgivable what’s happening, what Samson’s doing and the fact they’re supporting him.’

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday 1 July at 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
