Soap schedule thrown into chaos next week as ITV viewers prepare for more cancellations

Frustrated Emmerdale and Coronation Street viewers are gearing up for another week of shake-ups as ITV has made more room for the live coverage of the Euros 2024.

ITV has a series of schedule changes planned for next week as it dedicates its media coverage to the Euros 2024
More changes are coming to the soap schedule over on ITV as the UEFA European Football Championship continues next week.

Viewers were recently left frustrated when the broadcaster sacrificed both Emmerdale and Coronation Street to make room for the tournament and, unfortunately for them, another set of cancellations is expected.

While EastEnders has migrated over to BBC Two, airing at its usual 7.30pm slot, Emmerdale will air three times next week at its usual time and viewers will luckily not be deprived of Thursday’s weekly hour-long instalment.

However, the Yorkshire-based drama will be scrapped altogether on both Tuesday and Wednesday (June 25 and June 26). Coronation Street fans, on the other hand, will see their patience put to the test as the show will only air twice next week.

Wednesday, June 26 will be a soap-less day for fans who will miss out on one of their trips to Weatherfield. Corrie will however be aired as normal, at 8pm on Monday and Friday (June 28). A multitude of soap fans took to social media in the likes of Reddit, sharing their frustrations over the changes to the schedule. “So that’s 2 episodes they owe us so far (first week of Euros and now this ahead)”, one penned in reference to the reduced Corrie airings.

They added: “As they short-changed us by 30 minutes in the super soap week and 2 episodes so far in Euros… that’s 2 and a half hours, so effectively almost an entire week’s worth of episodes. Not fair.” The TV landscape has been considerably modified by the Euros 2024 as other programs such as Loose Women and BBC’s The Repair Shop have also been cancelled in recent days. The final of the football tournament will take place on July 14, 2024 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Soap bosses have plenty of drama lined up for next week as Belle Dingle’s coercive control storyline takes another jaw-dropping turn with Tom King set to face huge peril after finding out the truth about his wife’s abortion. Belle recently terminated her pregnancy as her other half has been tormenting her, both psychologically and physically, for months on end and viewers have wondered who could take him down on multiple occasions.

Over in Weatherfield, Joel Deering runs the risk of being exposed for the supposed murder of Lauren Bolton, among other misdeeds, while Corrie legend Steve MacDonald gets a Tracy Barlow bombshell that leaves him feeling heartbroken.

In Walford, one newcomer faces her secrets being thrown into the light as EastEnders viewers grow increasingly convinced that she’s hiding a huge secret.
