Tom’s abuse of Belle ‘to be exposed’ by unexpected Emmerdale villager

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was taken aback when Tom King (James Chase) revealed some news to her in Friday’s (June 7) episode of Emmerdale.

Recently in the ITV soap, Belle spent time away from the village at a mental health unit. While she spoke to a professional about how she’s feeling, Tom was back at home growing increasingly paranoid his wife might reveal his abusive behaviour.

To get her back under his control, Tom developed a plan that saw him poison Piper the dog.

In his warped mind, Tom believed if Belle knew Piper was unwell, she would return home – and it worked.

In tonight’s episode, while most of the scenes focused on the aftermath of Matty (Ash Palmisciano) accidentally stabbing Samson (Sam Hall), we also briefly saw Belle.

As she stepped outside, Jai (Chris Bisson) approached her and asked for an update on Matty.

She looked puzzled and when Jai picked up on this, Belle said she had noticed her car had disappeared.

Believing it had been stolen, Belle prepared to call the police, but Tom then approached.

In front of a very confused Jai, Tom told Belle they had previously spoken about selling her car. Poor Belle looked so unsure, but she was ushered inside by Tom before Jai could even say anything.

Tom said they could use the money to pay for their upcoming holiday and, clearly not wanting to upset her husband for fear of his violent reaction, Belle smiled sweetly and ended the matter.

Jai’s involvement in the chat outside Dale Head was certainly very intriguing. Is this a sign he may pick up on Tom’s dark behaviour?

Could he be the one to save Belle?
