Emmerdale sex scene in van ‘went for it’ but was axed for being ‘too raunchy’
Emmerdale's Emma Atkins and Lawrence Robb, who play Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd, revealed that a sex scene they filmed for the ITV soap was banned from being aired pre-watershed
Emmerdale stars Emma Atkins and Lawrence Robb said one steamy scene was too hot for TV.
The pair revealed they shot a bonking scene with their characters. But it got axed from the show for being overly saucy before the 9pm watershed.
The duo, who play on-screen lovers Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd, dished the dirt about a sizzling moment where their characters were getting frisky in the back of a van. Turns out the racy rendezvous didn’t make the cut for family-friendly viewing hours and was scrapped from the episode.
Eventually the scene had to be re-shot from a different angle, with the camera zoomed out to keep things more PG. The original take would see the van rocking wildly as Charity and Mackenzie got busy. However, the director dropped the bombshell post-filming that the scene was too risqué for its early evening slot and gave it the chop.
Spilling the tea on Loose Women about the incident, Denise Welch grilled Emma and Lawrence about their raunchy antics. She quizzed the pair: “You were doing a rather raunchy scene for soap opera, pre-watershed, and you were pretending to do jiggy-jigs in the back of a van. And the van was rocking so much they can’t show it?”
