Emmerdale fans ‘expose’ huge twist as Gus faces prison after Rhona’s escape

Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out another major twist in the ongoing battle for custody of baby Ivy after Rhona Goskirk was cleared of all charges last week

Malcoms attempts to call a truce with Rhona Goskirk.

Loyal ITV viewers will recall that last year, the doting mum found out her ex-husband Gus Malcoms and his partner Lucy were expecting a baby together. The veterinary nurse was initially over the moon for the couple after learning that they were having fertility issues and could not conceive a child.

Years earlier, Rhona and Gus had IVF treatment which led to them freezing some embryos. But when they split up, Rhona assumed they were destroyed.

However, Gus stopped this from happening, before he asked if he and Lucy could use them after they got together. Despite the fact that Rhona said no, Gus forged her signature and Lucy fell pregnant with his and Rhona’s embryo.

As Gus dealt with his guilty, Rhona and her family started out by taking care of the tot. But things soon took a turn for the worse when Rhona admitted that she had grown attached and wanted to be a part of her life.

It didn’t take long before a war forged between the parents, with Gus planning to flee the country with the baby to start a new life in France. After learning about his plans, Rhona decided to kidnap her daughter and fled the village.

Last week, viewers saw the veterinary nurse found not guilty for kidnapping their tot when they attempted to flee the country. On Monday (April 15), viewers watched Gus attempt to call a truce as he pleaded with Rhona and Marlon to look after Ivy ahead of his upcoming trial for embryo theft.

But viewers are convinced that the estranged father has an ulterior motive as they flooded to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their suspicions online. One user penned: “Bet Gus just left evidence in their toilet #Emmerdale.”

Another agreed: “What’s the betting he’s planted something whilst in the bathroom? #Emmerdale.” A third argued: “Can’t they just put the IVF back in the box she came in and we draw a line under the parental responsibility and lock both Rhona and Gus up? Sounds good to me. #Emmerdale.”

A fourth pointed out: “Gus to give Ivy to Rhona.. Or is he playing games if not what was the whole point of the storyline? The kidnapping, the court case and stealing the embryos? Stupidity of a storyline if he just gives her the child anyway. #Emmerdale.”

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if the Gus’ suspicious drop in will backfire in the future. Emmerdale airs on weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
