Emmerdale’s Tom King to sabotage Belle and Vinny’s friendship
Tom's jealousy grows as Belle spends time with Vinny.
Emmerdale spoilers also follow.
Emmerdale‘s Tom King will continue to manipulate his new wife Belle next week, as he tries to ruin her friendship with Vinny Dingle.
Viewers have seen Tom become increasingly controlling of Belle over recent weeks, having sabotaged her new job at Take A Vow and destroyed the urn containing her late mum Lisa’s ashes, before gaslighting her into apologising for being so upset about the incident.
In scenes airing next week, Tom’s unacceptable behaviour continues when he becomes irritated at the sight of Belle spending time with her friend Vinny and his dogs.
When Belle is unexpectedly called into work, Vinny offers to take care of her new rescue puppy Piper for her. However, Belle’s later left distraught when Vinny admits that the dog has gone missing.
Tom quickly takes action to sort things out, appearing calm while Belle is upset. The situation around Piper’s disappearance puts a huge strain on Belle and Vinny’s friendship.
But what involvement does Tom have in the incident, and will his manipulative actions drive a permanent wedge between Belle and Vinny?
These scenes follow another disturbing incident this week when Tom uses the secret tracking app he’s installed on her phone to spy on his wife as she enjoys an evening out with her colleagues.
After showing up to check up on Belle’s whereabouts, he returns home and trashes the couple’s house in a fit of rage.
It was confirmed earlier this year that Emmerdale would be tackling the issue of domestic abuse in Tom and Belle’s marriage, with the storyline covering the many ways in which abusive partners control their victims.
Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle, has described the storyline as “an important story to tell”, adding that it’s vital to shine a light on this dangerous type of abuse.
“Soaps offer the viewer a glimpse of life behind closed doors and reveal what people present to the world isn’t always a truth,” she said. “The sad reality is that behaviour like this in a relationship is all too prevalent.
“I hope we do this story justice. And if people are in a situation like this they should definitely get help.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
