Emmerdale spoiler – Exit fears as Rhona Goskirk’s fate is revealed with prison looming
After weeks of waiting, Emmerdale’s Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) will finally learn what her future holds after kidnapping baby Ivy in a moment of madness.
Rhona’s life has been up in the air ever since she took off with the baby when Gus returned to claim her. Since then, Gus has made her life hell.
He’s told all sorts of lies in a bid to get her to plead guilty so that he could have Ivy all to himself. He tried to convince her that he’d cancel the sale of his house and they would move forwards co-parenting if she just made a guilty plea.
The terrible truth Rhona learned was that he’d already sold the house and was planning on a flit to France as soon as Rhona received her sentence.
Thankfully, Rhona remained resolute anyway and did not make the plea – she does not see herself as a criminal and she sees Ivy as her daughter. Now is the time she’ll learn whether that was a sensible move or not.
The court date finally arrives and it’s not long before Rhona and Marlon (Mark Charnock) are called in. In no surprise at all, Gus (Alan McKenna) immediately gets to work twisting the truth as a horrified and powerless Rhona can do nothing but watch.
But Rhona’s defence team are ready for him. They hit back and question his so-called good character, a painful moment for arrogant Gus. Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) is next on the stand, but the prosecution is gunning for a conviction and she may not be well enough prepared.
Rhona’s turn on the stand comes around, but after weeks of stress and a prosecution digging at her character, she starts to lose her cool, which results in her lashing out at Gus.
The timing couldn’t be worse, and the judge adjourns for the day, leaving Rhona freaking out at the impact her outburst will have on the outcome.
Meanwhile, a debate is in full swing in the Woolpack over what Rhona’s fate should be. The debate is hotly fought on both sides, which leaves April in a pit of fear – if even Rhona’s friends can’t sensibly pick an outcome, how will a judge?
Spotting Rhona outside of the court, Gus revels in the fact she may have ruined her own chances at walking free. The jury head off to deliberate and all Rhona can do now is wait.
Has Rhona lost her freedom, or is she about to wipe that smug smile off Gus’ face?
