Emmerdale’s iconic Woolpack pub has name changed after 51 years following complaints
EXCLUSIVE: The Woolpack has been the backdrop for many Emmerdale scenes over the years but it has been claimed that owners of the boozer have "gone woke" and "decided to change its name"
Emmerdale’s Woolpack is getting a “woke” revamp with a brand new name and Dales residents won’t be very happy about it.
Eco-loving viewers have been campaigning like crazy to get the iconic pub to rebrand with a more sustainable image. It looks like their efforts have been successful, because bosses have allegedly decided to change its name to “The Hemppack” to raise awareness for sustainable causes.
Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and her son Ryan Stocks (James Moore) currently own the Emmerdale pub, which has had several landlords and landladies over its 51 years on screen. But they’re facing a boozer boycott as regulars claim the change is ludicrous – with people claiming it might as well be called “The Wokepack”.
As well as being the backdrop for feuds, fights and deceit, The Woolpack has also met many disasters like the 1993 plane crash when The Woolie was struck by falling debris, which caused an explosion, demolishing the wine bar and the storm of 2003 when the pub was hit by lightning, causing the roof to fall through and a window to collapse. It was also the sight of The Woolpack Siege in 2013.
