ITV Emmerdale rocked by tragedy as fans ‘work out’ huge disaster kills villagers
Emmerdale has seen plenty of deaths over the years, and fans predict a huge storyline that could ruin the lives of many beloved villagers.
Emmerdale; Fans think a huge disaster could wipe out the village
Emmerdale viewers believe they’ve figured out a new plot that could put many villagers in danger – and even end in some of their deaths. The ITV soap’s fans have been posting their guesses for future events in the Dales on social media, with many suspecting another “major disaster” is coming. Over the years, Emmerdale has had its share of big disasters, like the 1994 plane crash and the Beckindale Air Disaster which resulted in four villagers and the entire Hutchinson family losing their lives.
Fans have also seen serial killers cause chaos in the village, as well as massive storms and floods at The Woolpack. In 2015, a helicopter crash left the village devastated and took the life of Val Pollard (played by Charlie Hardwick), while the next year saw Mill Cottage engulfed in an explosion in scary scenes.
Now, Emmerdale fans think another disaster might be looming, after noticing a key location that could feature in the storyline – the old mining shaft. This wouldn’t be the first time the mine has played a central role, as it was part of a 1978 storyline involving Reverend Hinton (Hugh Manning) and his son Clive.
The drama unfolded when Clive tried to blast open a mine with Ian Hepton (Tim Preece) and Rod Blake (Peter Attard). Things took a turn for the worse when the explosion knocked him and Rod out.
Emmerdale: Could a major storyline be looming for the villagers?
While they both lived, their stunning episode shocked everyone.
Fans have voiced their predictions on Reddit about possible future mine disasters. Some fear that some characters could die in upsetting stories.
One fan wrote: “Maybe something like a mining disaster. Jack and Sarah’s old farm started sinking due to old mine shafts or something, so there’s obviously scope to say they ran under the village too. Maybe a big sinkhole could open up and take half the village down with it. They could even do it on the cricket pitch or something to save the set. Get the whole cast there for a wedding, let the ground open up, and have at it.” (sic)
Emmerdale: Are some of the beloved characters at risk?
Another fan pitched: “Combine it. Flash floods weaken the ground, a shaft collapses, everyone’s trapped, it’s filling with water etc. I feel sold. I want this.”
Some speculated who might not survive the disaster and said: “Amit, Suni, Nicky, Tom, Claudette, Ella, Will and Wendy.
“And I’d bring back David and kill him, just to make sure we don’t get any surprise returns.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
