Emmerdale's April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan has left ITV soap viewers stunned as the young soap actress said 'yes to the dress' in a sneak peak at the star's real life
Emmerdale fans were left stunned when April Windsor star Amelia Flanagan picked out her prom dress this weekend. April, the daughter of Marlon Dingle and the late Donna Windsor, has been on our screens since 2014 when she was just six years old.
Amelia has been praised for her performances over the years, winning Best Young Actor at the Insider Soap Awards for three years in a row and also taking home Best Young Performance at 2015’s British Soap Awards.
The talented young actress comes from a soap-star family. Her twin siblings, Isabella Flanagan and William, play roles in Coronation Street. Their adventures off-screen are shared on a “Flanagan family” Instagram account run by their parents, Rachel and Chris.

A recent post showed Amelia posing in a dress shop with a sign that read: “I Said Yes”. The caption stated: “Today we went to pick @ameliaflanagan08 a beautiful prom dress from @houseofrosebespoke Thankyou so much to @helenbowensomething_”.
Fans were stunned by the landmark post as one exclaimed: “Omg can’t believe she’s that age already! Bet mum and dad feel the same! xx”. Meanwhile, another chimed in: “Well I feel old. She’s still 7, no?” and a third added: “Gorgeous, I have my prom this year as well! can’t wait to see her dress.” Someone else commented: “Beautiful” and another ITV soap viewer said: “A beautiful young lady.”
The actress recently revealed how she came to land her dream role – and it was all down to a banana costume. When asked how she came to join the ITV soap, she told OK!: “The director asked me if I could dress up as any character in the world, who would it be? I think everyone else said ‘a princess’, but I said ‘a banana’ and I think that’s why I was chosen for the role. Within six months April was wearing a banana costume in Emmerdale!”
Amelia has been at the centre of some hard-hitting Emmerdale storylines over the years including bullying and worrying about her on-screen dad’s health diagnosis. In recent scenes, April’s friends were involved in some trouble that resulted in the death of Heath Hope.
Marlon’s daughter refused to get into a car which subsequently crashed and lead to Heath’s death. Angelica King was at fault for the incident but had originally let her friend, and Heath’s sister, Cathy Hope, take the blame. Eventually Angelica confessed and Cathy’s name was cleared.
