April Windsor star’s age as she reveals amazing way she landed Emmerdale role
Amelia Flanagan has played the role of April Windsor in Emmerdale since 2014.
She instantly became a hit among viewers – even winning three awards in the space of a year at the Inside Soap Awards and The British Soap Awards.
Amelia, who is now 15, is the older sibling of Isabella and William Flanagan, who play Hope Stape and Joseph Brown in Coronation Street.
Her character April is the daughter of Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and stepdaughter to Rhona (Zoe Henry).
As April has grown up, she’s been involved in storylines including ones that have focused on bullying and being influenced by others. She often faces emotional challenges that make her reflect on the death of her mum Donna, who died in 2014.
Most recently, April expressed her thoughts on Rhona’s decision to kidnap her daughter Ivy.
Rhona – who is only Ivy’s biological mother – resorted to desperate measures in order to prevent Gus from moving to France with their child.
Feeling pushed out, April confronted Rhona and said how unfair it was for her to prioritise the baby over her family in the village.
The actress has previously spoken about the one thing to thank for her ongoing success – a banana costume.
When asked how she landed her dream role, she told OK!: ‘The director asked me if I could dress up as any character in the world, who would it be? I think everyone else said “a princess”, but I said “a banana” and I think that’s why I was chosen for the role.
‘Within six months April was wearing a banana costume in Emmerdale!’
Well, there you have it!
