Emmerdale viewers warn they’ll ‘turn off’ over ‘disgusting’ scenes as they ‘can’t watch’
Emmerdale has been hit with complaints by viewers over a harrowing new storyline involving Dales alum Belle and her new husband Tom as he continues to emotionally abuse
Emmerdale fans were left raging at their screens after watching “uncomfortable” scenes.
Belle Dingle and Tom recently tied the knot – however, viewers have seen Tom emotionally abuse Belle over recent months. Along with belittling her choices and undermining her, he criticised her wedding dress choice and effectively guilted her into marrying him.
And during Wednesday’s (February 28) instalment his mind games continued. In the past episode, Tom was fuming over Belle’s new job offer and stormed off to bed.
His sly behaviour continued when Belle took responsibility for a mix-up over the food shop – but Tom was behind it. He told his wife that they should communicate better next time, and he left her to unload the shopping.
Later on, Tom spoke to Jimmy who was worried about his daughter Angelica getting sent to a children’s home after Heath’s death earlier this year. With Belle having spent time in a young offenders institute in the past, Tom soon developed a plan.
At home, he told her that he promised she would talk to Angelica. However, Belle was not impressed and felt uncomfortable over having to relive those days.
She then told her husband that he should have asked her first – but he was quick to guilt trip her at the thought of saying no.
And now fans of the long-running soap are not too happy with how the storyline is going with many “uncomfortable” over the scenes. So much so, that some have threatened to turn off.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, one person said: “Why are you bringing in horrible characters. U wanting us to turn off!!” Someone else added: “Tom is disgusting. Controlling abusive, annoying, gaslighting boring tw**.”
A third quipped: “Belle & Tom… SO uncomfortable to watch.” Another viewer wrote: “Utterly devastating watching Tom manipulate Belle with his evil mind.” A fifth penned: “If this carries on I don’t think I can watch.”
