Vanessa Woodfield grows closer to her ex in Emmerdale as love triangle brews
SOAP legend Vanessa Woodfield has returned to the Dales and immediately caught up with her ex Suzy Merton.
But the vet played by Michelle Hardwick has no idea that another Emmerdale resident is also interested in the wedding planner.
Rhona Goskirk planned a big move to Canada with a kidnapped baby Ivy in recent scenes of the ITV soap.
In her rush to get out of the Dales, she enlisted the help of her pal Vanessa Woodfield who had not been seen in the eponymous village for more than a year.
The icon returned to Emmerdale with her son Johnny and, once at The Hide, she bumped into her former girlfriend Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough).
Despite the time that went by since their bittersweet separation, the pair hit it off once again and even shared a kiss – much to Mary Goskirk’s (Louise Jameson) despair.
Next week, Suzy and Vanessa have a flirtatious encounter in the Woolie Bar.
But how will Mary react to their connection?
Prior to Vanessa’s return, Mary and Suzy’s friendship seemed to be taking a serious turn, particularly as the wedding planner gushed over Belle and Tom’s ceremonial preparations, wondering when she herself could walk down the aisle.
Mary, who has struggled to move on from her devious con woman ex-girlfriend Faye, was devastated once she’d seen Suzy and Vanessa share a kiss outside The Hide.
However, she has kept her feelings quiet so far – could she be convinced to speak up next week?
While this remains to be seen, another villager could complicate things even further.
Vanessa shares a past with fellow Emmerdale legend Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).
The pair were once engaged but Vanessa’s cancer battle seemed to complicate things for them and Charity threw it all away for a fling with troublemaker Mackenzie Boyd.
Viewers of the Yorkshire-based program have been eager to see Vanessa and Charity be reunited as the chemistry is still palpable between them.
Many soap fans have taken to social media to beg soap bosses to push Vanessa and Charity back together.
“I can’t stop hoping that Vanessa is back to find Charity after she’s stabbed Mack”, one of them commented on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I can see Ness soothing her well enough that when Liam or the cops arrive, Charity has finally fallen asleep in Vanessa’s lap. Can this just happen already?”
How will it really play out?
Emmerdale airs weeknights from 7.30pm on ITV.
