Emmerdale confirmed a devastating double exit in recent scenes that has left one family completely broken.
Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) was left horrified last year when she learnt that ex-husband Gus (Alan McKenna) had used her embryos without permission, but soon grew incredibly attached to baby Ivy.
When Gus’ wife Lucy died in childbirth, Gus was unable to cope with a newborn while still grieving, so Rhona and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) agreed to take the baby in temporarily.
However, now that Rhona has got used to having Ivy around, it is very clear that she doesn’t want to let her go.
Recent scenes showed Rhona struggling with the idea of Gus taking Ivy overnight, and she was somewhat disappointed when he realised that he could cope fine with her on his own.
Thankfully, in tonight’s (February 7) episode, Marlon revealed that he had approached Gus with the idea of co-parenting, meaning that Rhona wouldn’t just have to hand baby Ivy back.
Rhona was instantly thrilled by the idea, and it didn’t take her long to start going over the details of the arrangement with Gus.
However, she was later left horrified when Gus revealed that he wasn’t going to agree to the idea after all.
Instead, he explained that he planned to move to France, taking baby Ivy with him.
This did not go down well with Rhona, who was distressed by the idea of losing Ivy so soon.
Gus was determined to go through with his plan, however, pointing out that she had grandparents living there who would be able to share stories about her mother and watch her grow up.
Though Rhona argued that they could video call or send Ivy to visit them on holiday, it was clear that Gus’ mind was made up, and poor Rhona was left devastated.
